I voted for between £250 and £450 depending on the client. I think at an hourly rate of £20-£30 an hour, that's only getting you 10-14 hours at best and to be honest, for a concept and a strong logo to develop, I think you need about that if not more.
In regards to brand identity, I think that's a whole different kettle of fish. Companies should be prepared to pay a hell of a lot of money for great brand identity. I always refer to Graham 'Logo' Smith's pricing page when thinking about brand identity. Obviously he's a seasoned professional with lots of years experience, but, his prices go up to as much as £5000-£10,000. It's hard to put a price on something like this, because afterall, it really does depend on the company you're working for.
