Hi guys,

Was tinkering the other day and came up with this logo but i am sure i have seen it somewhere before!!:icon_confused:
Has anyone else seen it or something similar? It's really bugging me!

Please bare in mind it's only a rough and by no way finished and if it is similar to another probably won't be!! lol!

It reminds me of that TV american sitcom show home improvement? With Tim the Toolman Taylor. And I don't know why :S

Know what you mean, and I can't quite put my finger on it either. The 'roof' idea is used by lots of companies, like Leroy Merlin in DIY, and by insurance companies - the roof suggests shelter/safety, I suppose. Anyway, it's hard for me to conceive that anyone could claim the idea of a sloping roof shape over a word as proprietary and get away with it (I mean, when Microsoft was pushing its 'Passport' thing, it tried to claim copyright over Don Quijote, among other classics, but nobody paid any attention, thank goodness). Your logo looks good and it works, so I'd stick with it if I were you.

I'd agree, because its not anything particularly new in terms of design its highly likely that that design exists in different disguises elsewhere.

It kind of reminded me of HDNL but probably just coz of the word home and the generic rooftop.

PS. Comic Sans? Tut tut tut... :)

Originality

It's almost definite that the word ''home" with a roofline like that over the top has been used in a large number of logo designs that include the word 'home' in them. I'd personally try to be a bit more original with this particular company name.

Here, even with a brief look at Google images I saw these similar roofline concepts:

Given that the original post was from May 2009, I'd assume that the logo has been completed for quite a while now?

I do like that government HomeBuy logo though - I've seen that a few times before. Expertly kerned and aligned :)
