If I was a photographer wanting my own photo on my own site, then it is kinda expected that she should do the most amazing self portrait image of herself. She has a camera, lights, technique, training and time. What more could you ask. If she CAN'T do a great photo of herself, then how can she expect to get commissioned work. If you can't make your own stuff look good, then nobody will let you loose on theirs. You have to start selling from the very first image that you see. She is selling imagery and her skill to produce it. I would still disagree that her face should not be on the first page though ( unless it is used as sales aid - as described). Show me the work, not the person doing the work. If it was a restuarant, what would be the first thing you would want to see? The Food or the Chef? Which one converts a sale?
