PDF Layers

I have a PDF which is a map of an attraction I am working at,
When the PDF loads it loads in layers with different elements loading such as paths, then buildings, then trees etc.

It would be really useful if I could view some of the layers separately and my question, therefore, is whether there is any way to convert the file to a format with layers?
    I have Adobe Suite CS4...

    Thanks in advance

    Just open it in Illustrator.

BE CAREFUL! Unless it's been made in Illustrator originally (you can check this in properties). It will definately open, but if it's not originated in illustrator you risk crazy things happening to the file, like text going wrong etc. It'd be better if you could ask for the original files if it's not been made in illy originally.
