Domain name registration

Discussion in 'Website Design Forum:' started by clarke creative, Mar 9, 2016.

  1. Has anyone ever bought a domain from here, www.register.com

Is it legit, been after a domain which was unavailable on 123 reg. Did a whois search and it pointed me in the direction of register.com. These guys have the domain for sale at a slightly higher price.

    Anyone with advice on this?

If it points to them then they own it I presume, otherwise it would be available to buy from any registrar.

Never heard of them or used them before.

  3. So they have purchased it to sell on at a profit, all above board then and legit?

I have only ever purchased through 123 reg and assumed that if its not available in there then it's privately owned, not for sale again on an alternative domain selling website?

Seems to be, I have purchased lots of domains in this way before.

  5. Whois.net info is,

    Registrar is register.com
The registrant is a Uk individual with a sheffield address.

How does this affect the fact register.com are the ones selling the domain name?

It may be that the registrant has registered the domain with register.com and has put it up for sale with them (like on SEDO). Without knowing the domain it's difficult to advise, contact them and ask.

  7. So , after a few late responses from the customer service at register.com they inform me that the domain i am enquiring about is not available.

Yet still up until now i am able to add it to my basket and looks as though i can complete the transaction as normal??
