Working on a logo design handoff app

I'm working on a logo design handoff tool that allows designers to build brand presentations with downloadable assets. I love to get your feedback on the idea. Also, if you are a logo designer you can sign up to be part of the beta which is limited to the first 100 applicants. You can check it out here https://bravemark.co

Are you limited to only having RGB and Hex colours?

I'm not really sure I see the point.
I can put all the logos and the brand presentation and all the guidelines on a DropBox or WeTransfer Plus - or I can store them on our own FTP site with a link to download.

I can make a far more customisable experience through a number of already existing online avenues.

Just one link on a quick search.
So what makes yours unique? Whats your USP - who are your main competitors.

I don't think anyone should be able to download the assets.
Is there a hierarchical approval system?

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts.

You can also set CMYK values and Pantone Colours.

Regarding using dropbox or wetransfer plus or storing files on an FTP server, the benefit of it more than anything is that you can preview assets in a presentational form and get all the info you need of each asset instead of having to look at files in a file viewer where there is no information associated with the file. This is a dedicated page per brand so a simple URL is all you need to present the brand and send over files.

I tested pics.io as you suggested and yes there are a lot of these asset management solutions, but they just list all your assets - they are in no way a brand presentation. Just a more complex FTP with permissions.

What makes us unique is just that we are a blend between an asset management platform and an interactive online brand presentation builder.

Assets will be able to be public or not depending on settings.

We plan on providing an approval system, but right now we are just getting started and working on the main features.

What do you think, is it more appealing to you now?

Honestly I'm looking at the idea and thinking why would I pay for something I could add to my own site and match my own branding, website styling etc in about a day. Honestly all I'd need is a login portal, where you could likely get away with a passworded folder per client, and a 'template' I can update for each project.

Now if this was a one time purchase template for a site I could maybe see it as useful for those that don't code but it's not something I would pay for as is. I'd also have concerns over gdpr, privacy policies (you don't even show a link to one....), hosting of files by an external company etc etc.

Yes, I don't really see the value here. It's something I can easily produce using InDesign templates and do so on a regular basis.
Most don't enjoy having their assets available online.

But there is on brand we do it for - and the files are hosted on Hightail - where in the supplied PDF you can click on the image assets that are in situ and it brings to you Hightail - where you login to access the asset.

Our clients prefer a PDF format as it means they can print it out - and distribute the documents to various designers.

And it's a one-time cost.

What you're basically offering is a Digital Library with some branding guidelines.

Which is something we offer free of charge and part of the process.

I also have a backend solution for print on demand for customers where they can login to their own branded experience.
They can pick a template, pick images from their Assets, the styles and sizes are all locked down. the correct logo is applied depending on the usage.

It's really smart system, and our client can just login, create a poster, a brochure, update some text, change images, select logos etc. and once they finish it there's a hierarchical approval system which they use. Once it's approved they get a PDF they can use internally - and a PDF with correct print settings are automatically sent to the printers.

---
What I'm seeing here is probably a very basic version of what we already have for clients.

I'm not saying it's bad or anything. But I'm struggling to understand why I'd use something basic like this when there's other more fully fleshed systems out there.

A quick search already finds similar products in your space that are more advanced.

I do applaud your efforts and it's a good move - I'm just wondering if it would make me want to switch over to your services
And I'm struggling with that.

Hi Levi. Thanks for the feedback. I understand that this will not be a tool for everyone. If you can code and make your own online presentations, you might be better of going this route.

Hankscorpio. Our point is that PDF's are an outdated form of presenting your brand. I understand that you feel different and that many more will. PDF presentations is the way it has always been done and gives you all the freedom a designer might want, and I'm sure it will be the way most do for a long time. However, I do see many caveats to the PDF format (file size, having to zoom in to read texts, lack of interactivity) just to mention a few things on the top of my mind. Regarding the DAM products, they are highly complex to my liking and provide a very broad range of functionalities. We like to make things simple. Maybe once we have the beat rolled out you can give it a spin and let us know your thoughts then. Cheers.

I don't see PDFs as an outdated process, it's literally the industry standard for printing and proofing.

I can even process my document on Publish Online through Adobe.
I know the asset downloads cannot be hosted there, but I can link to them to download from our secure servers.

I won't be using the beta as it requires me to sign up to your marketing emails and you have my email address which is something I'm delicate with.

I'd be more interested in a white paper solution using an API with our website and purchase that from you and plug it into the website to use as we see fit.

But I can't see me as a designer using your product when it advertises your solution.
I'm being paid to provide the solution.

I already have templates setup and a logo process that I go through with clients.
I can't see that changing.

But it's not something I'm completely against.

There isn't a free to use trial period without giving up my email.
So it's difficult to judge your product.

I can only go by the demo and my process.

PDF's are pretty much a universal standard everywhere these days, not just in design either. Most OS's even have built in viewers now.

I won't be signing up either, I'm less concerned with an email address because I can create a 'burner' for that, but the lack of any legal stuff such as a privacy policy rules you out straight away.

Alright, no problem. No one is forcing you guys to sign up and we do have a privacy policy. Thanks for your feedback.

My mistake, it appears to have been added prior to my last post where I didn't go and recheck.

Having had a quick read... I don't like the privacy policy terms (specifically too many people can have access to any of my uploads) so I'd still be out.

Just for reference, I work with a lot of NDA's so 'protecting' work/clients is very high on the importance scale.

I've just registered to this forum via a Google search about text sizes for brochures; and came up with this thread. :)
IMHO there is a lot of work and potential on this. And it doesn't deserve careless and apathetic comments.
Good job @adstrakt ! I think I'll sign-up for the 3 month free option to try out.

Loves and regards everyone.

Welcome aboard

I don't like the platform since there are limited colors you can use. Moreover, many platforms can do almost all the work for you for free or for a small amount of money.
