Which Pantone type should I put in client's brand guidelines?

Hi Guys, I am completing my first ever brand guidelines and I am unsure if the standard pantone reference is alway the coated ref or the uncoated ref. Which is considered the standard?

Depends if it's printed on coated paper or uncoated paper. The colours differ due to saturation. Usually you pick the colours from the pantone printed book and pick an uncoated reference that is closer to the coated ref.
