What things make a quality graphic designer...

...I've always thought being a good designer is more about knowing what looks bad as opposed to what looks good. If you can't spot bad design then you haven't got the eye. Be interesting to see what other think?
 
I would of thought being a good designer is more about making good designs, rather than spotting good or bad ones.

I see your point though. It's easier to spot a good design than critique a bad one, usually more feedback is required too.
