What size to create image for framed end product?

i plan to sell framed digital prints at a size of 30" x 20"

what size and resolution would you recommend I create the source print?

i'm using photoshop CS5 and when i create the page size as 30" x 20" the program runs out of memory when i try to do anything like change colours or add gradients to the image.

Wait for one of the printer pro's to respond but at that size you would likely get away with 150dpi so you could technically design at 50% size at 300 dpi
 
Spottypenguin's right you can lower the resolution. Big ink jet prints seem to 'up' the quality. I will check (but have switched off my other Mac where the photos are) as I have printed at about that size on our A2 ink jet.
