I'm definitely getting a dark vibe, but that's not a bad thing since a lot of your work seems to deal with dark subject matter. I'd be tempted to reduce the height of the header image and maybe simplify it a bit. At the moment it feels a bit like it's just plonked on. I think it needs to tie in to the rest of the design a bit.
