You should only use GIF's for logo's and images that contain predominantly flat areas of colour.

Any photographs should be uploaded as a JPEG. At the moment, the main image on your site has banding due to the image being a GIF.

It shouldn't be any slower - just reduce the quality of the JPEG from 100% (I always save my jpeg's at 60%) so your file size is reduced.

Regardless of the file size, photographs should always be saved as JPEG's.
