People That Get Touchy on Twitter

This morning I ran into some very irate people about a badly designed logo on Twitter. This is how the conversation went.

Person: "This is a really great logo!" (it was a horribly naff Photoshop job with tons of effects and gradients)

Me: "That really isn't that great. It won't scale well and it's full of filters and effects."

"Design Agency", Company and Original Poster: "Is this the place for critiques, yadda yadda, your work is shit, yadda yadda, you use a Wordpress template yadda yadda".

Seriously, why post something out into the Twittersphere if you don't want people to pass comment on it? That is what it's about after all. SOCIAL being the keyword and all that.

Anyone had any experiences like this?

It's not just on Twitter, how many times have people asked for a critique on here and not liked the response. Some people are only interested in praise!! Tell them like it is I say.

Some people... Reminds me of the guy on the UK Business forums who slated my work saying my designs were "too simple". Thankfully Boss had my back :D

That whole things is the logo??? If they got rid of the keyboard and the monitor it would be 100x better. But what do I know?

Yeah the whole thing is the logo. What a heap. I'm not one to slate other peoples work, but seriously, I think using a Wordpress template is the least of my worries ;)

Reminds me of a time that I joined a new 'creative' group of 'like-minded' people, which shall not be named in this instance.

They stated from the start that it was our group and that everyone would have an equal input to all aspects of its running. It all sounded very exciting.
One of the founding members (who's an Office Manager) created a logo in Word and stated without any consultation, that this was the group logo. It was a terrible logo and an embarrassing reflection on the group.

A few of us, who were creative people, mentioned (in a nice way) that it could be improved and that anyway Word wasn't the ideal application for creating logos. We offered our services for free to come up with something and welcomed everyone's opinion and input.

Well, we were shot down in flames. "This took me a long time and a lot of effort to create and you are disrespecting me by saying it needs improvement. I am hurt and disappointed" was the general gist of the reply.

Needless to say, we were a bit surprised and decided to leave. The group still exists nearly 4 years on, but in a very depleted watered down version which hasn't really gone anywhere.

Yes, people can get touchy :icon_biggrin:

Do they still have the same logo?!

Look at their logo portfolio. Sad, sad times :icon_eek:

When you take a look at their logos (lots of colour!!) and then their prices.... £55 for a logo design...£14 for a double-sided business card...you can see why the Potato people ended up wuth that logo!

I think there's a lot of Photoshop involved with their logos haha. Also, the ironic thing about the Potato people, is that they're actually computer specialists. Nevermind eh?

You know the whole idea that design is subjective and that everyone's entitled to their opinion? Yeah; that's got to go...

Exactly, some people just waste their time for commenting and other waste their time for reading others nonsense comments. It's a big waste of time. PEOPLE, don't waste the time!
BTW, I like their new logo  somebody does not?!
