Hi All,

I have been working on my 2017 mac book air (Yes I Know! but at the time budgets were tight) and I think it is time for an upgrade.

A company by me are known for their quality of custom PC builds and was wondering what everyone's opinions are?

Have been looking at the following :
Any help any of you can give would be greatly appreciated (I.E what to upgrade within this PC / Advice)

I primarily work on:
Illustrator
AE
Premiere Pro
Photoshop
Cinema 4D

Thanks everyone!

Honestly you're paying a lot of unnecessary money for the quadro and xeon badges.... the xeon is from 2017 as well so been superseded...

I'd like more information about how much of each of those apps you use and what sort of thing you do etc because you might not need half the things a 'specialist' will say you need, they just want to milk you for all you're worth and won't necessarily give you what you actually need.

Hey Levi! so I primarily use Illustrator/Premiere/AE near on every day, and Photoshop/Cinema 4D for when the capabilities within my main group are unable to do the task in which I am aiming for. I'd preferably like to stay within Novatech as they're right next to where I am based and offer incredible customer service (So if anything breaks or doesn't perform how it should it's simple and quick to send back and fix) but I look forward to what you would suggest based on my software usage (y)

Personally and this is more to do with the cinema 4D, premiere and AE side of things because Photoshop still doesn't make full use of multiple cores last time I checked (yay monopolies...)
Personally I'd be looking (I am kind of at the moment toying with this sort of upgrade but waiting to see if threadripper gets updated - I do 3D rendering etc) at something along the lines of:

AMD Ryzen 3950x (not out yet but soon) with 16c/32t + motherboard. The xeon in your link has either 6c/12t or 10c/20t depending on what you read, intel site says the former.
4x16GB DDR4 3200 (total 64GB ram) or above ram - ecc isn't really needed in anything you listed. The one you linked does have more upgrade options, only using 2 slots (loses quad channel ram which is a weird choice), but lets be honest when was the last time you needed more than 64GB for your work.
2x 512GB to 1TB PCIE SSD's - OS and scratch. Now these can be the new shiny 4th gen ones but honestly I doubt you'd notice the difference between them and gen 3 ones so base it on price.
2x 500GB sata SSD's - storage of active projects in raid or with real time backup between drives using something like Bvckup 2 (or 3 if it ever gets released lol)
2+ 1TB Hard drives - long term storage/backup etc, raid, real time back up etc.
Blu Ray if you want archival on disks
GTX 2070 Super or above GPU. The quadro you listed was basically a slightly slower version of the rtx2070 but with 'support and drivers'.... geforce now has the same drivers just without the support via the creative drivers instead of the gaming ones.
Case, windows etc. GTX 2070 Super and above support nvlink so you can join 2 of them together for extra memory and performance if you wanted and the software supports it.

The above 'should' come in under the cost of that workstation but will be A LOT faster in the heavier workloads that rendering and video encoding will produce, as long as the software can support all the cores (most of the things you listed should do).

Sintrixx_95 your posts seemed like you are promoting them, so I looked up your username - turns out there's a few threads by you on different forums looking a different PCs by them - it's not hard to spot a spammer.

To be fair the OP does say he lives near them and has heard good things of them them so it's only fair that he's going to check them out and mention them.

I've suggested scan and ocuk for parts before yet I'm not out to promote them, I've just had good experience with them. Hell I've used novatech and had good experience with them too but as I said in my first post the item linked is poor value....

So for now I'm giving the benefit of the doubt... if nothing else it might encourage novatech to do a better 'workstation' option for those of us that don't see the need for a xeon or quadro because it doesn't gain anything.

Yes I'm sure hes mentioned them and linked to them asking for advice on a gaming PC, a PC for design software, etc on different forums because hes buying several different PCs at the same time. The first three links, all recent posts, I looked at he asked for different types of PC. But your the mod.
