Need help with gradient 3D effect in Illustrator

Hi guys!

I struggle a lot with one thing and decided to try to look for help here. I've watched a few tutorials on yt but couldn't find anything useful.

The thing is that I design the 3D logo of a fingerprint and I've used the gradient but it doesn't seem to apply throughout just on one of the surfaces, the rest stay greyish which I don't want. When I do that with the use of one colour it works but not with the gradient. Any ideas?

Do you mean you want the gradient applied to the extruded parts of the shape?

If so then it's probably the 3D effect not getting the gradient and you may need to expand the shape and apply it manually.

That 'logo' is going to lose all legibility as soon as you add in more gradients... it's pretty poor as is.
