NANDO’S MENU ART COMPETITION
Nando’s launches nationwide competition for aspiring artists to showcase their work on its menus

Nando’s is handing its fans a blank canvas this November, with ‘Nando’s Menu Art Competition’ – a money-can’t-buy opportunity to have their artwork showcased on Nando’s menus across the UK. Wannabe Warhols and budding Banksys across the nation are being asked to get creative this winter by adding a splash of colour and style to the next set of menus, which will appear in restaurants in March 2013.

Viewed by thousands every week, the menu’s front cover will not only give aspiring artists a credited platform for their artwork, but the winner also will receive a feature on the Nando’s website and win a year’s supply of chicken.

Keeping in style with existing menus, Nando’s is asking fans to interpret their own Nando’s experience when creating their masterpiece, using any medium of their choice except for photography.

The competition is open to everyone and entrants must upload a picture of their masterpiece to www.nandos.co.uk/artcompetition by 1[SUP]st[/SUP] December 2012.

Nando's is already a supporting member of the arts community after a piece in their collection recently won a prestigious arts award at an event held at London’s V&A Museum for Coming To The City mosaic. The British Association of Modern Mosaics awarded the artwork in their Kings Cross restaurant Mosaic of the Year, making it the first ever recipient of this industry recognised new award. This adds to the fantastic arts platform for all keen competition entrants.

Rob Montgomery, Brand Experience Manager at Nando’s comments: “We’re incredibly proud of the artwork that graces our menus and restaurants, all of which originates from Nando’s home country, South Africa. We share our food and passion with our fans on a daily basis, so we wanted to offer our fans the opportunity to share their work with us.”

He added: “We hope to unearth the nations up and coming artists, and find the best menu cover Nando’s has ever seen!”

The lucky winner will be announced in January.

Do the hundreds of other designers who don't get selected, who spend an awful lot of their time putting something together, get some form of payment for their services also?

I'm assuming there are no hidden clauses hidden in this prize of 'eating free at Nandos for a whole year'? If I won this competition, could I go along to my local Nandos restaurant and have the most expensive meal on the menu - a Jumbo Platter priced at £41.50 - every night for 1 year at a total of £15147.50? Why not give the winner a cash prize of £5000 and save some money?

Nevermind.

T&C Number 6. Prize: x 12 vouchers for two x combination meals. One voucher for each month from March 2013 to February 2014. 1 meal a month is hardly 'a whole years free Nando's. A bit misleading don't you think?
