Hi everyone - we are looking to employ a full time sprinkler designer for our building services company based in Stockport near Manchester.
You will be working in the Fire Protection team and the role will be based at our offices here (SK4 1PL), however you may be required to travel to sites across the UK from time to time.
The salary is negotiable. Experience in fire sprinkler design is a bonus but it is more important that you can competently use CAD software. The industry is highly regulated and you will be fully trained whilst you are on the job. There are lots of opportunities to progress within the company. Having a car and a driving licence would be helpful also. We're looking for someone with a positive attitude who can work to tight deadlines and deal with difficulties or conflicts calmly and with ease.

Your role would include:
- assessing the hazard classification for the building and any stored goods to determine the required design density of the sprinkler system (we can teach you this),
- carry out site surveys and measurement to determine building geometry or confirm client reference drawings are correct,
- laying out sprinkler heads and pipework in accordance with appropriate standards, taking account of building features and other services to ensure sprinkler system is effective in a fire scenario,
- providing detailed drawings to send for approval to the client and supervising body if necessary, to send to the fabricator and to be sent to the installation teams on site,
- hydraulic calculation of the proposed pipework to ensure that the minimum pressure and flow requirements can be achieved,
- dealing with any site issues which require design input.
