Logo Design Inspiration?

I've been asked to make a logo for a friends rock band - 'Cell 54'. I've been struggling to think of an idea. Could anyone help me think of a design plan?

It would, I imagine, be largely influenced by their reason for choosing the name. However I, personally, would start by looking a microscopic images of cells for inspiration.

Keep the theme and name of the band in mind and start developing some designs. This will lead your way through. For inspiration you can look at the logos of various other rock bands like Metallica etc.

Depends on a lot of factors, for example a certain type of heavy rock music may make a prison cell theme appropriate where as a more modern style rock such as the band Muse may make CazGraphicD's suggestion of using microscopic cells more appropriate.

I would suggest searching the web and compiling a mood board with ones you like, then simply take the best bits and design your own.
