I need help! Adobe Illustrator

so, they way i usually want curved text is by typing onto a path, but when i type on to a circular path it does nothing but type inside and not on the path!
Extremely frustrating!! please help

Can you post screen shots of what you're doing?

You need to use the Type on a Path tool to follow the contours of the circle, otherwise it just places the text inside and constrains it there.

If so, as mentioned above you need to use the Type on Path tool.

Thats my problem, im using the type on path tool, and its not typing on the path, its not even working for a normal pen tool path, very agrivating
I'm sure i'll find out whats gone wrong

ah, i found what the problem was...

my type tool messed up, just restarted and its working fine now..
