Hex colours not matching?

Has anyone ever had an issue where a hex value for a colour given in photoshop displays incorrectly in code?

I'm working from a photoshop design which gives a hex value of #31608c but the colour being displayed when used in code is much darker (#2e4d7c)? Even when using the web colours only option, the results are the same. The doc is rgb 8 bit.

Check your proof settings in view that might be causing some issues.

Screen gamma might be another thing to consider too

it can be because of colour profiles in Photoshop, you can even get different browsers rendering the colours slightly differently.

It's definitely profiles.

I'd use File>Save for Web and select from that.

When asked to embed profile - say no.
