Help Grid referencing image

I need some help making a grid reference over an image, Is there some way to automatically put vertical and horizontal lines over something because I can only seem to do it manually and its impossible. Plus the lines need to be faint but still visible so the image is what stands out and the lines just fade nicely into it.

If there is a program anyone knows of that can do this for me I'd be graetful. Thnx.

What software are you using? You can create a grid in Illustrator using the grid tool. In CS3 the grid tool can be found under the line tool if you right click it. Hope this helps.
