fading image slideshow

I'm wanting to do a slideshow which fades between images on a page with text, more to see if it works than anything as I'm 50/50 on it for my site.

Anyone got any easy to use scripts/tutorials for this which I can work my way through as the ones I've found so far aren't helping

would prefer not to use flash if possible although obviously that is a way if necessary.

Can this be sort of what you're looking for? I know you preferred it to be a flash solution but... You could always try.
