Do you find it difficult designing a brand identity for your own creative services business or freelance practice?

Graphic and Identity Designers - if you've ever had to design a brand identity for your own design practice (be it small or one-man creative agency or personal freelance design service), what has been your experience? I know many creative designers find it incredibly hard to design their own identity, and I'm curious to know why? Is there an inherent issue with self-promotion, or can we just not see our selves from the same perspective as we see our clients' businesses? Very interested to gather your feedback.

Yes, been there, done that. I've wasted far too much time in the past trying to think of something clever or different for myself. Everyone loves doing logos, I guess it's because we want to show off what we do and because designers
are perfectionists, but when it comes down to it we don't need a brand or mark at all of course, our work should speak for itself. It was easier back in the day, when all the agencies started calling themselves animals or fruits! Keep it simple folks.
