Blog-jects! Help needed

I'll spend 10 minutes later theorising some answers, that way getting the ball rolling again. If others have some strong responses they want to change or give it'd help me tooooo :D
 
It's is a shame it's fictional, but I still think it'll be a useful and worthwhile exercise. I'm trying my best to mix the fictional side of things in while still writing articles that might be useful with real-world clients.

I'd be great if you could contribute, all suggestions will be received gladly. I believe there is a few suggestions in the blog comment thread that has got things going.
 
I think the problem with a band is they will atypically say sometihng like "something similar to...but different".

So in that vain, I offer the idea that they have seen the artwork of Richard Cheese, which they like the comical approach to cover work, and they like the covers of Eli Paperboy Reed's album because they like the modern yet classic soul feel of them and they like the idea of it looking a bit like the blue note covers as well.

This does pose a slight problem as most cover art in this genre would involve pictures of the band. However singer Dan(I'm giving them names) has seen your illustrative work and would love to see if you had it in you to do a very cool illustration of the band outisde a diner on route 66 with a big sign outside the diner with the bands name on it.

This has been my experience when you are dealing with a band, general opinion and then maybe a belter of an idea.

Any further suggestions would be greatly received. I'll be writing the final (hopefully) brief over the weekend then posting it for approval from everyone. The fun will begin in the next few weeks when I can actually get down to the nitty-gritty of it, hopefully this blog-ject idea will take off then.
 
um, you know when I read the title I was thinking yeah swinging penguins (ie penguins on a rope) once I got to this bit (skipping the band bit noticed in the re-read)

Buy most of their music online
Predominately males
Tend to listen to cd’s rather than attend gigs
Hoping to attract:
Younger (mid-twenties)
Will attend gigs freely
Not a huge disposable income but a large percentage of it is spent on music

I was thinking you were doing a design for a swingers club with Penguin representing the 'suit' lol.

Running alongside this I've asked for suggestions and resources to help me do research for 'The Swinging Penguins'.
If you can point me in the direction of some helpful examples etc, I'd be very grateful.
