3d design in illustrator

hi all
i need help designing a 3d "S" in simple cloud effect, for a logo.
whatever i try it ends up like trash.

The 3D tool in Illustrator is pretty limited.

Do you have an example of the kind of thing you're trying to do?

something like this
but i want to make it look like "S" letter
and by 3D i mean giving a simple angle to the shape

That's not 3D, and the video shows you how it's been produced. Start with a sketch of a S in cloud form and build it up in layers.

how to make something like this in a 3d manner

I don't think it's possible to do it in illustrator and make it look 3D. All you can do is build up the shapes in layers to get a three-dimensional effect, in 2D.
