What spec Mac would you suggest?

Look. Really. Don't bother. It's fine. This isn't a forum I need to be on! Sorry to have expressed an opinion that didn't fit with that of the other admin.
Sorry you feel that way. We can leave the condescending tones at the door too, myself included.

I'm part of the Adobe moderation team on their forums. Over there, and in all the other forums I am part of, everyone agrees that 16Gb, even in the new Mac M1 is not enough for production workflows.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, dear boy.

We get this old chestnut of Mac vs Windows so often, we are just not doing it anymore.
They both work the exact same and the software works fine on both of them.

There's no need to debate it. And it was not only for you - but for anyone else coming to the forum.

Macs are fine computers - with a hefty price tag.
The OP has 1600 to spend.

So we're aiming for that.

I don't think the Mac Mini cuts it - and there's no upgrade options in the future.

This comes in at £1099 without monitor - presuming OP has got a monitor already - I'll leave out the cheapest Mac Monitor at £1600.

Even though with the Mac Mini - I've maxed it out as far as I can - £1099 isn't the budget.
It might work for a while. But no upgrade options are a deal breaker for me.

Here I've put together a higher spec - under £1600 and it's completely upgradeable.
Get new SSDs, new RAM, new graphics card etc.

And the processor is better than the M1

And it's better than the Mac Mini.

And it's in budget.

No body uses that term like you did in your post, it was a (failed) attempt at being 'superior'...
No problem. I've left. But you are absolutely wrong. And hugely presumptuous. I frequently use that term, and have used it on boards for 3 decades. Would you kindly delete me from your forum member database entirely, please?

I thought you'd left the forum....

You don't have to leave the forum. We welcome you and hope you can stick around.

Just some crossed wires.

You had me take you up the wrong way - and another moderator also picked it up that way.
At the end of the day, we don't have inflections just written words.

So - if you like you can stick about. Nobody is booting you out.
