Laptop for graphic design - suggestion needed

Hi all!

I am quite new in this forum, and I was trying to look for some advice from the earlier posts, but could not really find anything useful, yet! (I was probably blind or impatient to look through everything.) Although I am pretty sure you could help me. :)

I am looking for a laptop for Graphic Design; I mainly use Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Xd for studying. I have a pretty good desktop for all this, but I need a laptop so I can be more flexible.

My budget would be between £900-1300. Pros and cons are more then welcome if you guys have multiple suggestions.

Thanks! :)

Take a look at the higher end ryzen 7 4000 series laptops, they're pretty capable and should be able to found well within budget.

Personally, I’d go Apple every time. I know there are reasons – not least of which are financial – for jumping ship and going the PC route.

Apple, these days, despite once being David to the Goliath that was Microsoft, have become the usual shareholder-driven, greedy corporate machine and seem to be overcharging by a ridiculous factor. However, for me I rarely have to think about the machinations of the machine itself. It just does what I want. As close to a transparent tool as you are going to get. As I say, it’s based only on personal experience.

In addition, there are a couple of pieces of software, I use for type design which are Mac only,

Whichever way you go, don’t skimp on RAM. Pack it with as much as you reasonably can to future proof it as much as possible. Photoshop becomes more and more hungry with each upgrade.

Typically
I like a larger screen so 17 inch is for me.

And then for graphic design you'll need lots of RAM - 32GB is good, as you can have Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign running at the same time.
Plus some RAM usage for large photoshop files.
A large hard drive so you have a good Scratch Disk size for Photoshop.

Photoshop needs a type of graphics card that is supported

And finally - a nice processor that is more than capable.
In the link above - you can change parts - you could go with an Intel processor

The 4800h and the 10875H are ranked quite similarly.
L2 is the fastest of the 2 there, L2+L3 - L3 being the slowest.

The 4800 h has a faster base speed. But the other one has a faster turob speed.
And unless your laptop is plugged in all the time - I can't see it reaching the 5.1ghz listed below. But it might.

Of the 2 they are similar. But for me the Ryzen has it.

I know there are new AMD Ryzen chips on the way - and that usually means some more gains for the processor.

I don't buy the Apple eco system at all I find it too expensive. And if you put that rig together on a Mac it would be about £3k if not more.

OMG this is amazing, thank you this tip! Really informative, backed up by knowledge and experience. I actually forgot about PCSpecialist, that is a great option to put together what I need!

Thank you ever so much!

I just have one more question. Is the PCspecialist laptop has correct color accuracy?

Colour range is Gamut/NTSC which is listed as 72% NTSC.

As to accuracy, that's why you have a calibration tool such as a spyder pro.

Without merit - it would depend on what year/model and parts included - some Apple Macbooks have low-end U processors not suited to multi-tasking, for example - and there is the Air and Pro version of the Macbook in 13 inch and 16 inch - both offering different combinations of hardware.

Not to mention the shift to apple arm cpu's and upcoming updates etc.... there are still compatibility issues in some cases.
