1950's illustration for a school project

Hi everyone, i am working on a project and i have a question.. So the idea was to make a beer brand that looks like it could have been from 1950, but i don't know how they made those amazing illustrations for the ads like guinnes or budweiser. I have done a lot of research but i just can't find what materials they use to make these illustrations back in the days. I am thinking about oils, but how did they combine the text and the other illustrations after that? Or was it all hand painted? So just a summary: How do i make these kinds of ads from start to finish?Screenshot_20190622-121250_Instagram.jpg
 
You need to check out the work of Norman Rockwell and similar artists/illustrators. He worked mostly in oils but you could get a similar effect with
acrylics and watercolour.

Some of the specialist fonts may have been hand-drawn but the artwork for the ads would have been produced in the normal way.

You might find some similar illustrations on stock sites but they might cost a lot. For things like the logos just search for 50s or vintage/retro logo designs.

Thanks alot! Norman Rickwell makes very nice illustrations indeed, I think i'm going to work with oilpaints and then somehow scan or photograph the piece to work it out further in photoshop and illustrator to add text and to combine the illustrations!
 
Sorry for the long wait. I totally forgot that I made the promise to post the end result on this forum haha. But here it is. It was a really interesting project to work on.
