What potential clients to target?

    I'm a freelance designer, and as happens every so often, I'm a little short on clients at the moment. Usually, I'd email around PR firms, as I find they're usually a very good source of work, but I'm a little sick of the white wine and sharp suit brigade now. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for an alternative type of businesses to target?

    create 3 lists:
    a: What are your strongest disciplines/what do you like doing.
    b: Sectors or types of business do you'd like to work with.
    c: The kind of budget you can work with

    Now, look for businesses that fall into list b which is lacking something from list a and probably have a budget from list c. After that it's all about getting to talk to the right people and helping them realise the need.

    You can actually credit check your prospects and get a picture of well they are doing financially so I would include that as part of my targeting process.
