I am designing a catalog however the photos have a background, for
example the pictures are of shoes but i can see the table the shoe is
sitting on and the background behind the shoe, is there a way to cut
the shoes out in Photoshop so the background is removed?

Hi Alex and welcome to DF!

There are a few different ways to do it. Here's a quick tutorial on some techniques.

Extract a Selection from Photo in Photoshop tutorial

There's another quick method you can use if the background is not too busy and there's high contrast in the image (like a chair on a white background). Go to Color range and get it as black and white as you can. Invert the selection and then add a layer mask.
