Masking problems with illustrator

    use pathfinders' minus front. cutting shape infront of main shape, select both then hit minus front from the pathfinder menu

    Cheers for the reply although i managed to do it in the end by selecting both shapes and converting them to a compound path.

    Still swift and easy to use. Far less bloated than Illustrator.

    Personally I disagree, I find Illustrator more intuitive.
