Illustrating for education

Hey guys, I recently finished uni for summer, and on my final hand in I had a chat with my Illustration tutor about what I was aiming to do etc. He suggested looking into illustration in the education side of things, illustrating for leaflets/posters/books etc for teachers and pupils.

I run an art club at my daughters school and work closely with the FS children, childrens illustration is something I'm keen to get into. Last night I was making up some paper plate mask templates for this weeks art club and a (teacher) friend suggested I look into illustrating a kind of "craft book" which would work as a guide for teachers for projects/quick ideas for art clubs and rainy breaks - that sort of thing. I'm really interested in this so was hoping to approach a few educational publishers - I'm just not sure the best way to go about this! Does anyone have any tips? I've never really approached anyone about anything before design wise, so I'm not sure where to start!

Thanks for any help! :)
