Government to enforce plain tobacco packaging?

I agree. It really makes no difference to the consumer whats on the packet as all they care about is the taste. People have their favourite brand like with everything else, and if the packaging means to Embassy for example, that you will pick up their cigarettes rather than Rothman's then that is a big thing for the companies involved. It's HUGE business and you know that the tobacco companies will fight it all the way for that reason.

The alternative is just to use a universal typeface stating the name. But then that is still advertising.
