I just relaunched my new site. All built on wordpress and fully controlled by the back-end system.

Still working on little improvements, validation and doing some SEO on it.but its pretty much there.

Feedback would be cool. Thanks guys.

I think the 'you' character needs work.

I would agree with the character illustration as it's not great.
I would also personally advise you to put the Formula 1 love in a back pocket and concentrate on Glen the designer rather than Glen the F1 nut. It is a big conflict of direction.

I agree with Berry...the F1 stuff is a tad over powering. Are you a designer or a race driver?

Oh I thought the character was great.. It was done by Ken Reynolds I love it. What's wrong with the character?

As for the F1 thing there aint a great deal about F1 on my site. The site is for me as a web designer/developer yes.The only F1 stuff on there is the blog posts but the blog posts are really for personal use and random things. I'll have lots of web related stuff on there too in the future

Ken's strength lies in design. The character isn't to hot. I'll help you out if you like.

Which one do you get payed for?

I get paid for web design and development but I don't see any issue with the F1 in there. Most blog's have their own hobbies in them. Mine being CSS, Design Dev and F1. I can see your views on it though.

How could I improve the character do you think?

Your site reads as if you're trying to be a sports personality or someone that's involved with (motor) sport who just happens to enjoy doing a bit of web design or similar in their spare time. It should be the other way round if you're after web design work.

I don't understand the need to tell everyone that you like to drive a "red car" and then have a link to some pictures to what is ultimately a stock honda civic.....

I'd say the text as a whole needs a complete rework with ideally a copywriter (or at least another set of eyes) going over it to improve the way it flows. I was always taught never to start 2 sentences the same if they followed after each other, you've got this on the very first page. Your last sentence just ends with 'specialising in web' which does not make sense, remember the first page is what people see, you can't have mistakes there.

In what way do I make out I'm a sports personality? I've been very successful in a number of sports and it reads that i'm a very good professional, a leader and someone who works very hard. I agree that the content may need a re work however I would never give it to a copy writer as its my own personal words and i want to be the one writing them. The site explains i'm a passionate web designer and I've actually had feedback off some big names saying its been put together quite well.

There is still work to be done, and always will be to carry on the improvements.

What do you mean its ultimately a stock Honda civic? It's my own personal car and I want to show off what i've worked for. If you have a passion for something then you want to show it off in my opinion.

I can't explain why it reads the way it does, but when I read it there's too much emphasis on your sports or sport related hobbies and not enough on your web design business.

As to the car, a client doesn't care what car you drive, it's the work you produce. Driving a honda doesn't mean you're successful, a honda is a 'normal' brand of car that joe bloggs can buy, it's not a high end brand or anything expensive.

A user can come to the site and few my portfolio and read my web blog posts. The website is personal to me really. It represents all of me as a person not just a full focus on my web work.

Honda is a general brand of car yes, as is any other brand... Audi, Vauxhall, Toyota. Its not about brand its about model. Are you saying anyone one can afford an Audi R8? Not every Joe bloggs can have a Honda Civic Type R GT or Mugen, i'm lucky enough to have landed on my feet in getting a decent job after university which I did work extremely hard for this isn't about the car or pride its just about because I want it there on my site. I am in a few car clubs so it is there to show quite a few guys what a have lined up for shows etc. The Honda is engine modified and is not standard. The car is a personal future project.

So is this site not for getting work....you've had 3 people on here all saying the site is too focused towards your sport/hobbies and not enough towards your work. If you don't want to take notice that's your choice.

As to the fact your car is modified - been there done that, when I was younger I viewed mine in the same way you do yours, it was my baby. When I had it, it was part of who I was but the simple fact is that when you're older you'll look back and realise the car does not make you who you are.

If you want to show off the fact you were able to buy a car and upgrade the engine then use a personal blog, don't stick on the one that's supposed to be bringing in work.

I dnt take notice of you mate because you never have anything good to say about anything.

I've taken Berrys into consideration and am looking at reworking graphics.

The car is there because I love cars, end of. The car is not bog standard and it's not on the site to be 'Big time' I have it there because I do. Harry Roberts has his Bike videos on his site just like I have my car it's no big deal. The site is personal to me. I get plenty of work the site is there if someone wants to see anything.

Glen, we all know you have a love for cars.
But it has little or no interest or validity in a web designers website.
You can talk about cars and everything car related till the cows come home. I think we'd all rather see you talk about design. You response to Levi showed that you have little to say unless it's car related. That balance needs adjustment if you want to be taken seriously.
I love music and golf but I don't keep banging on about it and doesn't form the central persona of my business.
Design is not and never has been about producing what you want, but how you interpret and deliver what someone else needs and wants. That means removing personal subjectivity.
Glen you have to let go of this car thing. This is business not personal - Otherwise just have a blog on cars or start tweeting.
We are all trying to be objective to help you here Glen.

I know what you are trying to say Berry. But it's the same as Armadillo tweets is it not?

I see lots and lots of armadillo tweets everyday of the week that are totally random and unrelated to your business and web. My blog
Posts are both Motorsport and web based ice never had an issue in the past with it and I get plenty of work from my sites.

I not having a go what so ever. I can't see the issue in having car related stuff on there. I'll take this into consideration mate and take a look at moving them to livemotorsport my up and coming Motorsport blog

Glen, I've seen this type of attitude from you before, you don't like it when people don't like 'your' hobbies etc. You have to realise hobbies mean nothing in work, I'm not critiquing you, I'm critiquing the work being shown.

For the record I like anime, I like modified cars, I like vehicles in general (I have all my life) hell I like f1 etc but they don't get featured on my work site because they mean absolutely nothing to my potential clients. They want to know what I can do for them, not what I do in my spare time. If I wanted to put stuff on the web about my hobbies I'd do a personal site.

As to the tweet's, they aren't the same as a whole site, a site is there as an online advert for your services, tweets are random thoughts, back links to your site, they're not there to try and sell your service, they're there at most to bring people to your site.
