A client would like to use a photo they've taken of a building they had an event at recently. It would be a tiled background with the main content on top, the content isn't what I'm bothered about here.

As they've taken a picture themselves are they ok to use it publicly? or would they need permission from the people who own the building?

Depends on what they're using it for. In theory, you can shoot what you want provided you're in a public area. And so long as they're not claiming they built it, I can't see the problem. Here in Brum, for instance, every new housing brochure has pictures of the bullring in it to show the local area. I don't think they ask permission for that.

There may be legal experts on here who can give you more details. Anyone..?
