    Strange Google Ranking

Phil I don't think that is it because even on my machine it showed #1 for a day and I never did that. I did just ask two of the friends though, and they both had no idea you could even manually add results. I think I'll just chalk it up to google being flakey that day.

    Strange Google Ranking

Vertigo you are a mind-reader. I thought EXACTLY the same thing earlier today. That "Todd Adams Photography and Travel" has been there for years too. I'm not an "expert" by any means with Google, but since you and I both noticed the same thing, I guess it can't hurt to try rearranging it! "Todd...

trying to float css (need help)

You need to float the image right, then wrap the "Featured Text" img, p, h3, p in a div and give it an iD then float that left. So.... HTML <div id="featured-left"> <img src="http://www.designforums.co.uk/images/featuredtext.png" alt="Blue Dream" /> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...

    My Personal Site

I disagree that the page is "pointless" for search engines as it has all of my contact information as well is a major page on my site. Ideally I want google to index all pages on my site since it only has 4 pages. The more pages I can get on google for searches the better as far as I'm concerned...

    Strange Google Ranking

Thanks Tim, your findings seem consistent with my current.. Still no clue why one day I was #1... I just checked live.com for the first time myself. I'm on page 3... But the version it has is over a month old when it was just a coming soon page. Apparently Microsoft doesn't crawl very often :)

    Strange Google Ranking

Just thought I'd toss this out there as it makes absolutely no sense to me. So a month ago, I was #6 on google for a search on "Todd Adams" (minus the quotes). About 2 weeks ago, I was #1.. Yay! I was number 1 on my machine, and others machines. The #1 lasted a day. The next day I was back to...

    IE6 obselete?

I "think" I can gather the meaning of that, but overall, I'd say it doesn't make much sense :)

    Anyone used CMS Made Simple?

I'll chime in just to say that I also downloaded and played with it a year or two ago. I found it extremely simple to create templates and use overall. Granted it's not the slickest looking CMS around and could use a graphical make-over. But functionally speaking, for small sites, it is one of...

    back end website stats

While I use analytics as well. Woopra is by far the coolest and nicest software I've found. It is still in beta though so has downtime a lot (which is why I have google and woopra on my site). But it's pretty darn impressive. Here are a few features I love: - REAL TIME tracking, view and watch...

    Bed Shop

I don't have much experience myself, but just to toss out another free open source solution that I've heard amazing things about: Prestashop PrestaShop Free Open-Source e-Commerce Software for Web 2.0 Again, no first hand experience, but a lot of co-workers have raved about it as well as Zen...

    IE6 obselete?

Yeah my wording is probably bad, but it's a good example. Most people could care less about upgrading, but if you point out the huge security risks/virus prone, that will grab their attention enough to do the upgrade (at least it should!). And you know your end users better than anyone, so if...

    IE6 obselete?

Tim I think thats a good start. But I can't help but mention, that I personally would never recommend anyone use ANY version of IE :) I'd consider changing it to "You are using Internet Explorer 6, an outdated browser that has many security risks. It is recommended you upgrade to a modern...

    IE6 obselete?

I agree that I would love to let IE6 rot away, but even with Microsoft's pushing of IE7, a huge number of users still are using IE6 for whatever reason. On just 2 of the sites I monitor analytics, around 15% of visits are still from IE6. Why? No idea, but it saddens me. I still code for IE6...

Heeeeeeeeelp me please..........before I strangle my neighbours cat.

Jaz, I'd remove the DIV as it is not necessary. Your submenu should also be a UL to be semantically correct. I've done drop-downs that work cross-browser on numerous sites that work in all browsers and I've always done it with ul's. You're more than welcome to steal my code. An recent site I...
