Proper setting for vectorizing using "image trace".

I don't know about anyone else, but I've never been asked to send a vector file at a certain size - they'll reduce it or enlarge it to
whatever they want it to be.

Thanks, Scotty,
I checked, and I don't think that the problem amounted to that. At this point in the process, though, I'm prepared to let any final scaling be addressed by the engraver. I have, however, started re-making the design, since there are a couple of elements that I would like to see improved (namely, the parts that I drew in myself - drawing in Illustrator with the mouse is not advisable for most people, I assume). You would not believe how much easier going it is the second time around...or, on second thought, perhaps you would, having once been a beginner yourself. I am using a couple of different techniques to replace those elements that I didn't particularly like in my first design, including use of one tool in Photoshop to perform one particular function which was difficult in Illustrator. I did run into one hitch with that, but I'm trying to figure that out myself, with the aid of online resources and various books in the public library. If I can't do that, I'll start a new thread and let you know about it...

Yes, Mr. Ward, I am of the same thinking. By the way, you may be one of the exceptions to my "drawing in Illustrator using the mouse" comment. You are a true artist, and your work is beautiful.

It does get easier and more intuitive to use the more you do use it but like with most design app's, you'll hit a wall and that's where YouTube and the net is golden.

I actually use the trackpad on my MacBook for all my work in Illustrator although I often work over something that's been drawn and scanned prior.

Wacom tablets are very good to work with in Ai and now I's sat wondering why I'm not using one right now.

Thank you, sir! I don't use Illustrator a lot, not like Scotty, and I actually think the best thing about it is you don't need a drawing tablet. I'm sure a lot of designers, specially, still make do with a mouse.

I exclusively use the mouse when working in illustrator. I can't get away with tablets and find that the bezier curve control, for me, far surpasses the unpredictable 'organic' effect a graphics pen gives. I produce a pencil sketch, scan it and ink it in illustrator - it's perfect for that.
