Well well well, Yahoo has achieved a significant psychological coup after it got one up on its dominant tech rival Google by beating it in the share of US web traffic for the first time since 2011.
"Stats compiled by ComScore show that the firm outpaced the search giant for traffic in July, bolstering new chief executive Marissa Meyer who has been busily undertaking an acquisition spree and garnering column inches. Amongst these purchases are Flickr and Tumblr, the latter of which changed hands for a reported $1bn and whose stats weren’t counted by ComScore – reducing Yahoo’s lead. Yahoo saw a 20 per cent rise in traffic last year to hit 196.8 million visitors in July, versus 192.3 million for Google."
They're doing something right then.
