Why has the font gone fuzzy?

Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum and really new to graphic design, so please feel free to explain things in detail to me!

I've recently purchased an illustration and edited it in Adobe Illustrator. I've set this up on artboards that are 788 x 788. I've added text to the image. In order to publish it as a slide deck document on LinkedIn, I had to save it as a PDF. Once saved, the illustration looks crisp and clear, but the font looks fuzzy. Where have I gone wrong? Any recommendations on how to fix this?

788x788 isn't exactly high res to start with either.

The file sizes for posting to LinkedIn are indeed quite small. Is there a way to change the compression from Illustrator so that it does not impact the PDF output?

Unfortunately no, to load LinkedIn documents (so users can scroll through like a slide show), these must be DOC, PPT, or PDF formats.

Hi all, thanks for your help! I think I've discovered the issue is not related to Illustrator - the files appear perfectly clear when I export them as PDFs. The problem (likely compression as you mentioned @Levi) occurs when I upload the PDF to LinkedIn.

Nope - that won't make a difference at all - in fact that's a very incorrect workflow.

I know. Fonts in PDF must remain fonts. But if the guy has already tried everything - why not try.

Because it wont make a difference. It is being rasterised.

I have been looking for an answer to this issue for MONTHS! Even LinkedIn can't tell you why it happens – I was told to "keep adjusting the graphic if you'd like. That would be the only way to adjust the look of the post."

Convert your image from RGB to CMYK. (The type still isn't as crisp *as* the photo but there is a considerable difference.)

It's because you've rasterise the type and the resolution is not correct
