Quick Critique please!

We're a computer support company - wanted something basic and I made this in a few minutes in GIMP.
Critique please :)
 
I'm not really sure how we're supposed to critique or what to suggest. I quite like the font but it's quite obvious it was made in a matter of minutes.

I'm not a graphic designer - I'm a computer tech.

I'm guessing I'm just asking how YOU'D make it better; I'm not after a re-design as that'd be asking you for work.
Just some pointers, like: The mark is too big/small, the lowercase doesn't work etc.

it looks dated. boring and generic.

type needs some treatment, tightening i think. I think it needs some relevance, in some way. You're not going to really get the suggestions you're after. :(

Don't worry about it!
I'll get learning how to you use the path tool correctly and try doing a Web 2.0 style logo.

Thanks for the tips though.
