i'm going to stay on mumsnet for a bit - is there a mod who can grave this thread?
Um... think you might have a misconception about this forum. Most of us on here are professionals who run our own businesses so we also look at the way we present ourselves to potential clients etc, not just at the 'pretty stuff'.fair point - i was clearer in another post - got muddled between them - the site isn't aimed at fellow professionals though and you have no idea of my position - thanks all the same
your concern is misplaced - but again thanks.
funny how my mumsnet post got me lots of interesting feedback on the design, and my graphic design forum post has feedback on if people would hire me or not, but i did ask for 'any and all feedback' - so it's fair game. i kind of expected you to chip in on things you knew about though - rather than casting aspersions over my professionalism.
still, again, thanks - your comments are appreciated![]()
No we don't....the site isn't aimed at fellow professionals though and you have no idea of my position
No we don't.
So can you answer the question: what is the purpose of the website?
Mummy knows best! But hey if you think mumsnet will get you better feedback go for it.
This sounds like solid advice.I’ve been a maths tutor for over 15 years. I know what works and what doesn’t.
keep it really simple, list the services you offer, provide trust marks and confidence builders, add full contact details and your picture (this is really important). When you begin tutoring add testimonials.
If you only want feedback on the graphic design I still think you would be better with a traditional layout: Header and menu > Main Content > Footer.
And I still don't like the 8-bit font. But maybe that's just me.
And the clouds cover up the Quote for me (using firefox)
And the TOP action is slooooooow....
No idea why you're bothering to come back here if you don't want to take any notice of professionals who do this type of thing for a living....please try and refrain from letting me know what you think a portfolio is, or how to get work as a tutor - i'm not posting here for advice on anything other than graphic design.
