Hi guys,

I am hoping to bring out a new mobile/tablet application and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how much I should expect to pay for a decent mobile/tablet game app developer. Without giving too much away, it is a very simple concept that only requires tap and swipe functionality. I can provide most (if not all) of the graphics for the application, it is just the functionality and to have it set up and running available to the public, to which I need assistance with. I know you get what you pay for, but it would be good to know roughly how much money I should expect to have to take out of my pocket. Due to it's simplicity, and me providing the visual elements, I shouldn't of thought it would be too much of a time consuming job, therefore I'm hoping it will not cost me an arm and a leg.

Also, if anyone has any experience with any game app developers and can recommend one, I would really appreciate it. Or if you are one yourself, then of course please get in touch.

Apple, Android or Windows (or all three)?

Ideally all three yes but to be honest it all depends how it effects the price. I am willing to settle for just IOS if necessary and then if possible, bring it out on the other devices at a later date.

I'm no expert but I've heard tale of apps costing a fair amount. The main issue with iOS is getting onto the Apple Store itself. The access criteria can be pretty daunting - I've checked this out before. So it's not just the development it's making sure it is squeaky clean for Apple. Google Play is a bit more 'free and easy' but you are still looking at a decent cost. This is why apps tend to be released by people who can build them themselves or by large companies looking to cash in on ways to reach more consumers. Without knowing more details I couldn't put a price on it but it ain't gonna be £500!

Hhmmm, yeah this is the kind of information I need to find out more about. I am talking to a couple of companies to get a rough estimate without giving too much away about my idea. But it is difficult, as I don't want to send them anything without knowing whether this is going to be mission impossible, or if this is something I can realistically go ahead with.
 
Thanks guys. Ideally I would like to hire someone from the UK, just because I think it would be easier communication wise.

Well only if they were actually down the road might it be easier and you could see them face to face. But currently I have a contractor in Holland on Odesk and it's the same as using someone in the UK (except his English is better..)
