Lines all to one point when open a file

Hi when i open DXF files that i have been sent they open with lines all over the design

any help would be great full

DXF is an autocad file format, it doesn't exactly play well with Illustrator. Based on the image though I'd guess the 'page size' in illustrator isn't the same as the autocad 'page size'
