Just experimenting with other brand options.

Hello Guys
I have my current brand 'B', which stands for Ben Gibbons. But its obviously not got the 'G', which is how I eventually want to brand myself I think: .i.e [bg] -- Ben Gibbons.
Just experimenting with both letters and wanted some initial opinions. Not sure about the slogan yet, just what came to mind first. The image isn't mine and is copyright the original owner, but just using it to see the initial idea potential.
Thanks
Ben
NB: Not sure about it to be honest, just want some initial feedback.
EDIT!
I Cannot Upload the file? It states that allotted disk space has been used. Could an admin explain what's up?

I think when it comes to personal branding you can over think sometimes.
I'm really not sure it's as important as people make out. People judge you on your work more than anything else. Mines utter shite but I still get people enquiring.
The initial letters combined has been done to death and I think you would need something quite unique and original to get any sort of wow factor from this avenue of thought.

I really wouldn't get too concerned with bringing the G into the design Ben. The B looks great. Its Clean, Bold and has a touch of fun about it. If thats how you'd like to be portrayed then its spot on already and a very distinctive logo element for your branding.

What Davo said. You've got a good identity right now, no need to change it!
As for your disk space issue, I've had a look in the Admin CP but there's nothing wrong with your account. I will get it checked out though.

Thanks, I managed to create further styles involving images replacing the actual 'B', so will keep the B brand. Will post up soon. Glad you like it :) And thanks Sean, I will let you know when I upload the image and whether it works. Cheers

Right guys, keeping my original brand :)
Just experimenting with solid colours and images incorporating the 'B'. These would be used in addition to the original, i.e. the solid colour for grayscale and some printing. What do you think?

By listing what you do aren't you slightly limiting your self and possibly putting off potential clients?

I guess there is arguments for and against doing that. I'd just stick down design agency or something like that.

I understand where you are coming from mate, I guess it's a two way scenario. I could put off clients, but is it best to draw the clients in which you actually want, or have to tell others that you wouldn't be able to take on their project?
Any comments on the actual design too?
Thanks
Ben

I've often wondered the same about designating yourself to a niche market instead of a broad one.
I think it comes down to what your long term goals are and what you're comfortable and enjoy working on in the present as well. Obviously if you do specialise in one area you will get a reputation for it and begin to excel in that area, and thus be able to charge more for it negating the need for other areas.
On the other hand, starting off it may be difficult to survive being so niche, and so being broader may be better in the long term...tough on to balance, ad something I struggle with as well.
As for the brand. I can't help but feel too much of a similarity with the DC Comic and Discovery brand when you use the image clipped by the B.
I would stick with the original B you already have.

Thanks for the advice, I will take it on board and get further feedback from family etc.
I think the design world would benefit from more niche markets, not just 'I'm A Designer', I brand myself as an 'International Brand Identity Designer', and it allows me to primarily specialise in my field.

Yeah. I brad primarily as a logo and brand identity designer, as that's where my interest lies, doesn't mean I don't still take on websites and other work though :)
