Help needed - Grid Systems

Hi I am writing my dissertation on the relevance of grid systems in graphic design and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any books or articles where they show design before and after using a grid?

Im sure theres a lot of good information on Muller_Brockman out there. he's a real stand out on grid systems. Try and find some quality info on his work
 
There's a lot of discussion at the minute in the web design sector about how grids should and shouldn't be used. Don't know if that's relevant but have a read up on fluid and responsive web design.
