Hello everyone, im starting as a freelance designer and I have received an enquiry from a customer to made an invoice with some design. I am working with Indesign but i dont know how to export it for the customer to edit it without indesign.

I need a document that has editable data (name of product, quantity, cost, etc) and that the numbers sum up automatically.

Can I export from Indesign to Excel or Word with auto-calculate feature?

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply hankscorpio (CEO of Globex Corp).

So i can make the design in Indesign and then export to PDF and add the calculator in Acrobat?

The client needs to also have adobe pro, I guess...

You make the design in InDesign.

InDesign can add all the form fields (providing you have a later version of InDesign with this feature)

If you don't have an InDesign version with this feature you can design as normal and export to PDF.

You - in acrobat pro - then add the form fields and the calculator.

You then make it available for all versions of Adobe Reader
  1. File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (Includes Form Fill-in & Save).

Then the person who wants to use the form and insert the data into the forms - and the form will calculate automagically.
