Create floral vector with objects

Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help. If I have a shape or object (say a vector lotus shape with black lines) and I wanted the outlines to be in the shape of 100 roses (which I have as a vector file), what would be the best way to do this?

Thank you

I'm more of a Photoshop user and just about at the learn-illustrator phase but had a question:

Instead of lines, you want small roses to create the shape? You can do it with a brush - something like this:

The only issue I think is limiting it to 100 roses. Why exactly that number?

There are some Illustrator rose brushes out there...

You need to make a scatter brush

Important notes.

Have the leaf section selected
Go to Window>Brushes
With your object selected choose the 3 lines at teh top of the panel and new brush

Choose Scatter Brush

Create the Scatter Brush by saying OK - don't change anything yet

Draw a basic circle and then choose the Scatter Brush you created

Apply your Scatter brush (with your circle selected)
and then edit it by double clicking.

Adjust your settings until you're happy

@oodya - is this what you're trying to accomplish? I created a brush from a rose sketch and followed a lotus drawing as a template.
Not perfect - I'm still at learning stage - did this freehand:
