Company Logo Feedback

I'm not trying to flog it. I've thought long and hard about this idea. If means going back to the drawing board I will, but this is just the way I work. Trial and Error mate.

Hey look, you've come on and asked for advice. I've given my opinion. you said you aren't trying to flog it to death but we've seen approximately 5 similar fonts. As Tom said it's all about opinions. My opinion is that you have used virtually the same font over and over again. The strap-line is hardly legible but you want to make it work. Thats fine. If you're happy with what you've done then go with it. It's you that it's representing after all.

Calm down....no need to get angry! I value your opinion as I do everyone else that gives me feedback. I even tailored my recent design to what you previously said about the font. Plus I'm also speaking with a guy on here called YellowPeril who has been in the industry for 30 years now and he says that he likes it the way it is, except of course for the strapline. I'm just trying to learn and improve my skills buddy...no need to get all flustered.

I don't think Ian's getting all flustered. Also, he's a very well respected member of the forum and his advice is always top notch, I wouldn't discount it ever.
Everyone is always learning and we can all help each along the way. Ian is a great designer, YellowPeril also has some great work.

Like Ian said, this logo, in the end, is for you and to represent your product, you have to go with your gut.

Spot on Tony.

CGD - GDF is a resource for open feedback and colaboration. It's beauty is that it's open, honest and has quality contributors. Embrace the feedback and implement as you wish.

Nobody is hear to cause offence - if they were, they would not still be here.

Best wishes

Peter

Tony and Minuteman are right. It makes no difference to me what logo you decide to use, it won't make any changes to my life. People come on here and ask for advice and we all give it to the best of our knowledge.

The problem is that sometimes people ask for critique on their work and want 100% positive responses. If thats the case then the work shouldn't be posted.

We are professional and if someone working for me produced work I wasn't happy with I would advise them how to improve it. We are in a business where everything we do is judged and analysed and unfortunately if you cannot take constructive criticism in graphic design then it's the wrong profession for you.

I'm not here to offend, and if you found the comments that I made offensive then theres a problem because they were nothing but constructive. I have been on forums that tear people to pieces, with sarcastic and offensive comments to match and I have left them because they serve no purpose to anyone. This forum is not like that and EVERYONE is here to help, it's whether people want to listen or not.

This is exactly it.Nobody is being offensive, we all want to help.

I just hope you can take the C+C that you asked for and turn it into a great logo, which, afterall, we're all trying to help you with.

Even the best designers never receive 100% positive feedback. And I'm talking about Rand, Bass, Brody, Carson. Not everybody likes their work, they either stand up and say 'well, it's my design and it serves my purpose' or shrug it off. I don't recall them compromising, but in the spirit of you learning your trade, I'd definitely be trying to gain as much insight as I can without taking offence.

This is where I understand totally. You can be as brutally honest about my work or not...either way I will never take offence. I guess my inexperience is showing as I come from a different area of expertise. I'm studying 3d animation and the way we critique things are not so dissimilar, but we tend to give feedback to a piece of work (say a 3d model) until it's perfect or close to it. So let's put all this behind us ok guys and start a fresh. You all are more experienced than me and all I want to do is learn. This isn't a crash course in Graphic Design, not something I want to learn over night and then go straight into the industry...that would be foolish. Even the logo I'm designing for a possible future company in Graphic Design is something long term and would probably change it a few 100 times lol. It's all part of my learning process and not looking to offend anyone in the process. So from me...I'm sorry :)

I'm thinking of changing my strapline from 'Creative Logo Design' to what I actually specialise in i.e. logo design and stationary, Which sounds better:

lol sorry. I googled that and it covers the following: business cards, letter heads and fax heads. Is this right or is it better to say them individually? What is more professional?

Have a look on our website to see what comes under the printed stationery heading, obviously stationery can cover pens, paper clips, paper etc too...

So remove the letter 's' on all of them or just 'Logo Design?' Also it terms of layout which is better?

Just on Logo Design, the rest don't look that sensible without the S :)
And I prefer the top one in terms of layout.
Hows the logo looking right now?

Well I've made some changes. I've decided to re-think the name. I thought 'cube' was a bit of a crap name to be honest, so I came up with something simple but effective (I think). I've kept CGD but it stands for Creative Graphic Design instead of Cube Graphic Design. However I've kept both and applied the same strapline to them. Which looks more professional and appealing? Before you say anything I've checked them on business cards and they are both Legible lol.

Yeah you're right, they're both a lot more legible than they have been so far.
However, if you've dropped the name Cube, then why the logo with the cube? Also, I don't think there was anything at all wrong with the name :)

I remember someone saying on here when I was trying to figure out a strapline saying I should just have the cube instead of CGD, so I went away and added subtle changes to the cube and then realised after I decided to scrap it that this design actually works and doesn't seem bad. So now added the new strapline and now it feels right (for me anyway). So which is better Creative or Cube?
