Still running Photoshop 6 . . . but will upgrading OS render it unusable?

I’m looking for advice on upgrading my OS to still use CS6 with cos I can’t afford Adobe Creative Cloud at the moment. I’m on an iMac (around 6 years old) & still running High Sierra cos I understood I would no longer be able to run Photoshop with Mojave, so Catalina would probably kill it altogether. However, I came across this: https://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk.../be-warned-mac-users-mojave-breaks-photoshop/ that says you CAN. I just don’t know if I trust it enough cos I use Photoshop constantly so am reluctant to take the risk. Anyone still using Photoshop 6? Which OS? I’d appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Pretty sure you can still get Photoshop on its own for around £10 a month. Check it out on a trial, might be best to upgrade your os fully though.

Really? That would be amazing cos I thought it was £50 a month. Thanks ;–D

It's only that much if you want the whole suite. I think storage is limited, otherwise it's £20 single app price.

I will actually need the whole suite if I can't use any of CS6! Thanks.
The whole suite is about £60 a month.

If you think about it - it's about £2 a day. Price of a cup of coffee really.
I know it's not on everyones price list. But hey, seems reasonable to me.

If you are a student you can get it a lot cheaper. And I don't know if colleges are open to it - but usually they already have a license, so there's no reason you couldn't get the password for the login from them and use it at home to practice.

As with Creative Cloud there is no limit to how many times it can be installed, install on as many devices you want. Login from anywhere - only catch is - it can't be running on two machines at the same time on the same login.

But it would work fine.

I've just been keeping the wolf from the door for a little bit longer as I need to pay for building repairs... pesky bad weather! But always intended to get the whole suite, and just worked out that I can afford it in a month or so. Hurrah! But I appreciate all advice given. ;–D

If it's paid work you're doing - consider adding a small fee to each project. If you do 12 projects a month - an extra £5 a month would cover it, for example.

Dreamweaver!

Thought that dinosaur was long gone. There’s are so many better ways to build a website. The one you linked to isn’t even responsive (which is pretty much mandatory these days).

I know . . . and it's as clunky as ever! But I'm not a web expert, just a glorified pixel pusher/Photoshop artist who needs to include work on websites. You had no response from the link tho? That's very odd cos I get around 30,000 hits a year and everyone I speak to has access to any link I give them, especially as many download the gifs from direct links.

By responsive I mean it adapts to the device being used.

Look at this on a desktop, tablet and phone: https://tradesman-theme.co.uk/ See how it changes the layout to suit the device.

You don't need to build anything, all the coding is done for you. And Google will like you so much more.

Yes, and my Squarespace site does that! https://www.amandasgallery.me.uk
I just did my personal site as all pixels so it wouldn't fall to bits like my first Dreamweaver & Flash site did 20 years ago when I was 'winging it' having learned only from manuals.
I SO respect what web designers do cos they seem to be wired differently from me. I can render something 3D from scratch that looks real, but I can't program it to 'function' other than in pixel form.

So why not just install wordpress (free). There are thousands of themes (free) and plugins (free) to make it look and function the way you want. No need to pay squarespace anything.

It would also mean your gif site is a lot more accessible and easier to use on a mobile phone (which can account for up to 70% of all visitors).

This is where a CMS really helps. If you want a gallery you just drag and drop all the files onto the page. Click the 'update' button and it's done. No coding needed.

I can see all your pages but some of them don't seem to work.

I click on the boxes and nothing happens.

Also worth noting that some browsers and devices don't show flash anymore and it's not longer supported by Adobe. The rest will follow suit very soon.

This is just a rollover with the only clickable area in red bottom left. I only really use rollovers for my retouching work, but I guess I'll need to start asking people if they can see both original and retouched by rolling over or the content won't even make sense!

Do you actually need photoshop or the full adobe for what you're doing? Are you even using the entire adobe suite, I know I don't that's for sure.

Could you get away with something like affinity suite or pixelmator etc. While not the full photoshop experience could they allow you to do what you do in adobe.
