Hello,

Can anyone give me tips when an interviewer says "talk me through your portfolio".

How do you talk through your portfolio? What do you say about your pieces?

Any help much appreciated.

They just want to know that you know what is in your portfolio. Have a good idea of what each piece is, what role you played in it, and how it came to be in your portfolio.

The amount of times I interviewed someone on their portfolio and it takes an age to get out of them that it was a student project over 4 years. That isn't going to cut - and if you put in speculative work, mark it as that and that it was a practice piece. If you have pieces that actually went to production or online etc state that.

Hi Bigfootuk,
In this modern age portfolio has become something crucial in interviews. If you appear in interview without your portfolio, it won't get you shortlisted. It is your actual confidence and you speak through your portfolio. If you have done some projects, throw light on your part.
If in any case you don't have portfolio, no worries, prepare it keenly, contact with relevant industries and organizations and offer your services either free (internship) or at nominal price. The real reward you could get by the end is your Portfolio.
