B&Q have to try and get their website out their as much as possible - as it doesn't have the stores name in the url, which in itself is quite rare. Nearly every truck lorry and van of major brands have their website on it - it's more about brand awareness.

If you've got an awesome* portfolio of work and are willing to work for free or for expenses on a placement / internship / short term to show how good you this shouldn't be a problem.

So what you're saying is that someone who hasn't seen a QR code before will use this device that will take them to exactly the same place as the url that sits next to it? Clever.
You think a potential client will think you're clever for having something on there that serves no real purpose...

The qualifications most places (studios and inhouse) ask for is a degree or similar. They'll probably ignore everything else.

The only qualifications IMHO worth getting is a Degree or a HND.
Being a designer and having a qualification in Photoshop is pretty pointless, you as a designer should know Photoshop already.
As already said - an awesome portfolio of good quality work and a well designed spellchecked *true* CV...
